What to Do When You Discover Mold in Your Home

If you discover mold in your home, don’t panic. Take these steps to clean it up and prevent it from returning.

First, identify the source of the moisture that’s causing the mold. If it’s coming from a leaky pipe or appliance, fix the problem so the mold doesn’t come back.

Next, clean the moldy area with a solution of one part bleach to 10 parts water. Be sure to wear gloves and a mask to protect yourself from the fumes.

Once the mold is gone, dry the area completely to prevent it from returning. You may need to use a fan or dehumidifier to get the job done.

Finally, keep an eye on the area for any new mold growth. If you see any, clean it up immediately.

By following these steps, you can get rid of mold in your home and keep it from coming back.
