The Role of Tennessee’s State Emergency Response Team in Disaster Recovery

When a disaster strikes, the Tennessee State Emergency Response Team (SERT) is activated to provide a coordinated, statewide response to assist local governments, agencies, and organizations with the disaster recovery process. SERT is a multi-agency effort that includes representatives from state government, law enforcement, health and medical, transportation, utility, and private sector organizations.

SERT’s role in disaster recovery is to provide coordination and support for the local response efforts. SERT also assists with damage assessment, resource coordination, and recovery planning. SERT’s goal is to help the affected community return to normalcy as quickly and safely as possible.

In the aftermath of a disaster, there are many challenges that must be addressed. SERT’s experience and expertise in disaster recovery can be a valuable resource for communities working to rebuild.
