The Different Types of Smoke Damage

When a fire occurs, the damage it leaves behind can be extensive. Not only is there the potential for physical damage to the structure of a building, but there is also the potential for smoke damage. Smoke damage can be just as extensive as physical damage, and in some cases, even more so. Smoke damage can be difficult to spot, and if it’s not dealt with quickly and correctly, it can cause long-term damage to a property.

There are three different types of smoke damage: dry smoke, wet smoke, and fuel smoke.

Dry smoke is the most common type of smoke damage. It’s caused by fast-burning fires that don’t produce a lot of soot. Dry smoke damage is typically found on walls, ceilings, and other surfaces that are close to the fire.

Wet smoke is produced by slow-burning fires that produce a lot of soot. Wet smoke damage is often more extensive than dry smoke damage because it’s harder to spot. Wet smoke damage can be found on surfaces that are far from the fire, as well as on surfaces that are close to it.

Fuel smoke is the least common type of smoke damage. It’s caused by fires that burn for a long time and produce a lot of soot. Fuel smoke damage is often more extensive than dry smoke damage because it’s harder to spot. Fuel smoke damage can be found on surfaces that are far from the fire, as well as on surfaces that are close to it.

If you suspect that your property has any type of smoke damage, it’s important to call a professional for help. A professional will be able to assess the damage and determine the best course of action for repairs.
