How to Prevent and Deal with Basement Flooding

Basement flooding is one of the most common and costly problems faced by homeowners. Fortunately, there are a number of things you can do to prevent and deal with basement flooding.

To prevent basement flooding, start by making sure your gutters and downspouts are clean and in good repair. Additionally, seal any cracks in your foundation and install a sump pump to remove water from your basement.

If your basement does flood, the first thing you should do is remove any standing water. Once the water is gone, you can begin cleaning and drying the area. Be sure to throw out any soaked carpeting, drywall, or insulation. Additionally, use fans and a dehumidifier to help dry out the area.

If you take these steps, you can help prevent and deal with basement flooding.
