How to Keep Your Home Safe During a Flood

A flood can happen at any time without warning. To keep your home and family safe during a flood, follow these tips:

1. Move to higher ground. If you can safely get to higher ground, do so immediately.

2. Stay away from floodwaters. Floodwaters can be extremely dangerous. Do not try to walk or drive through them.

3. Turn off all utilities. If you can safely reach your electrical breaker box, turn off the power to avoid electrocution.

4. Listen to the news. Stay tuned to your local news station for updates on the flood situation.

5. Evacuate if instructed to do so. If authorities tell you to evacuate, do so immediately.
