How to Create a Disaster Supply Kit for Tennessee and Northern Alabama Residents

In the event of a disaster, it is important to have a disaster supply kit on hand. This kit should be able to sustain you and your family for at least 72 hours. Here is a list of items that should be included in your kit:

-Water: at least one gallon per person, per day
-Food: non-perishable items that do not require cooking or refrigeration
-Manual can opener
-Battery operated radio
-Flashlight
-First aid kit
-Extra batteries
-Whistle
-Dust mask
-Plastic sheeting and duct tape
-Moist towelettes, garbage bags and plastic ties for personal sanitation
-Wrench or pliers to turn off utilities
-Local maps
-Cell phone with charger
