Health Risks Associated with Mold Infestations

Mold is a type of fungus that can grow both indoors and outdoors. Mold can enter your home through open doors, windows, vents, and heating and air conditioning systems. Mold can also be carried into your home on your clothing, shoes, bags, or pets.

Mold can cause a number of health problems, including:

-Allergic reactions, such as sneezing, runny nose, red eyes, and skin rash.

-Asthma attacks in people who are allergic to mold.

-Infections of the lungs and airways.

-Respiratory problems, such as difficulty breathing.

-Skin infections.

If you have mold in your home, you should clean it up as soon as possible. You can clean most mold yourself. However, if the mold is in an area that is difficult to reach or if you have a large amount of mold, you may need to hire a professional.

If you have mold in your home, you should also take steps to prevent it from coming back. These steps include:

-Fixing leaks and other sources of moisture.

-Improving ventilation.

-Cleaning and drying wet areas immediately.

-Using mold-resistant products.

-Keeping indoor humidity low.
