Fire Safety Tips for Homeowners

As a homeowner, you are responsible for the safety of your family and your home. One of the most important things you can do is to make sure that your home is safe from fire. Here are some tips to help you keep your home safe from fire:

•Install smoke alarms on every level of your home and outside of all sleeping areas. Test them monthly and replace the batteries at least once a year.

•Develop and practice a home fire escape plan. Make sure everyone in your family knows how to get out of your home in the event of a fire.

•Keep flammable and combustible materials, such as paper, fabric, and cleaning products, away from heat sources like stoves, furnaces, and space heaters.

•Never leave candles unattended.

•Do not smoke inside your home.

•Have your chimney inspected and cleaned annually.

•Keep your home clean and free of clutter.

By following these tips, you can help keep your home and family safe from fire.
