Fire Safety Tips for Homeowners

Homeowners need to be aware of fire safety and how to prevent fires in their homes. Here are some tips:

•Install smoke alarms on every level of your home and outside sleeping areas. Test them monthly and replace batteries at least once a year.

•Create an escape plan and practice it with your family.

•Keep flammable items like lighters and matches out of reach of children.

•Don’t leave candles unattended.

•Don’t overload electrical outlets.

•Keep space heaters away from flammable materials.

•Don’t leave the stovetop unattended when cooking.

•Don’t smoke inside.

•Keep a fire extinguisher in your home and know how to use it.
