Disaster Recovery Resources for Tennessee Veterans and Military Families

When a disaster or emergency strikes, it can be difficult for anyone to know what to do or where to turn for help. This is especially true for our nation’s veterans and military families, who may already be dealing with the stress of military life.

There are, however, many disaster recovery resources available to Tennessee veterans and military families. The Tennessee Department of Veterans Services (TDVS) provides a variety of services and programs to help veterans and their families recover from disasters.

The TDVS website includes a list of disaster recovery resources, including information on how to apply for disaster assistance, where to find housing and medical assistance, and how to get help with funeral expenses.

The TDVS also operates a Veterans Crisis Line, which can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 1-888-777-4443. Veterans and their families can also chat online with a crisis counselor at www.veteranscrisisline.net.

In addition to the resources provided by the TDVS, there are many other organizations that offer assistance to veterans and military families in times of need. The American Red Cross, for example, provides disaster relief services to everyone, including veterans and military families.

The Salvation Army also offers a variety of disaster relief services, including food, shelter, and emotional and spiritual support.

Finally, the United Way can connect veterans and military families with local resources and assistance programs.

If you are a veteran or military family in need of disaster recovery assistance, please know that there are many resources available to help you. For more information, please visit the TDVS website or contact the Veterans Crisis Line.
