Dealing with Storm Surge and Coastal Flooding

As coastal flooding becomes an increasingly common problem due to sea level rise and more extreme weather events, it is important to know how to deal with storm surge and coastal flooding. Here are some tips:

1. Be prepared: Know your area’s flood risk and plan accordingly. Make sure you have a flood insurance policy that covers storm surge and coastal flooding.

2. Stay informed: During a storm, keep up with the latest weather forecasts and advisories. Evacuate if instructed to do so by authorities.

3. Take action: If you are able, help to sandbag or otherwise protect vulnerable properties.

4. Stay safe: During a flood, stay away from floodwaters. Be aware of the dangers of electrocution and drowning.
