Addressing Water Damage in Commercial Buildings

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, water damage is the second most frequently reported type of loss in commercial buildings, accounting for 22% of all property damage claims.

Water damage can occur due to a variety of reasons, including storms, broken pipes, overflowing toilets, and leaky roofs. Regardless of the cause, water damage can lead to a number of serious problems, including mold growth, structural damage, and health hazards.

Fortunately, there are a number of steps you can take to address water damage in commercial buildings. Here are a few tips:

1. Immediately remove any standing water.

2. Thoroughly dry the affected area.

3. Inspect for and repair any source of water leaks.

4. Remove any wet or damaged materials.

5. Clean and disinfect all affected surfaces.

6. Monitor for mold growth and take steps to prevent it.

If you take these steps, you can minimize the damage caused by water and prevent further problems down the road.
